    Designing headdresses

In our art classes, me and my fellow students were told to design headdresses. We each had to choose a country and if it was possible a sport. We had to collect all sorts of information about the countries, that could be food, sport, fashion, colours, to keep it short everything we could find that was related to it.

It started off with a poster. All students had to make an A2 poster about their country. We had some pretty good looking designs. From France to Russia and from Mexico to Holland. On the poster there had to be pictures and colours and glitters and pretty much everything else. We were supposed to combine elements with each other, and make the appearance of the poster look good.

After finishing the poster it was time to get started with the actual headdress. Of course we needed to draw a few ideas first. Then we had to choose the best example so we had a good idea of how we wanted our headdresses to look like. Everyone started full of excitement, but after a while it seemed to be harder than we thought it was. As a result that some of them worked out better than others.

For example there was someone who had designed a super taco, which represented Mexico. It looked like this big Mexican hat and it had the shape of a taco. It was stuffed with meat and salad, it looked awesome. The idea of combining of an Mexican hat and the national dish was perfect.

But there was also a headdress that was a piece of cheese which obviously represented Holland. For this you just don’t need so much creativity and thinking. Some of the students just put more effort into the project than others.

Which brings us to the maker of the headdress that combined the hat of the statue of liberty and the American flag. It was made of origami. Just the idea that you have to fold approximately 2000 3D origami pieces makes you tired. It took about 20 hours to make it. This is what I mean with putting effort in it. The headdress looked perfect. Well done.
